Ibn Arabi's Tawhid

THERE IS NOTHING EXCEPT THE SUPREME ABSOLUTE. ALL ELSE IS NOTHING. THE ONLY EXISTENCE IS THE EXISTENCE OF THE ABSOLUTE. IF YOU KNOW THIS AND DO NOT CONSIDER YOURSELF TO BE THE SAME AS , OR OTHER THAN, OR TOGETHER WITH THE SUPREME ABSOLUTE, BECAUSE THERE IS NO “YOU” TO BE THESE THINGS, THEN TRULY YOU KNOW YOURSELF- AND YOU KNOW THE ABSOLUTE. WITHOUT BEING AND WITHOUT NOT-BEING, YOUR EXISTENCE AND YOUR NON-EXISTENCE IS THE BEING OF THE SUPREME ABSOLUTE. WHAT IS AROUND YOU IS NOT OTHER THAN YOU BECAUSE THERE IS NO “YOU” TO BE OTHER THAN, AND EVERYTHING IS THE EXISTENCE OF AHAD, THE ONE. YOU ARE NOTHING BUT THAT ONE. YOU ARE THAT ONE WITHOUT YOURSELF. NOW YOU KNOW THE ABSOLUTE BY THE ABSOLUTE, NOT BY YOURSELF. THIS IS TRUE INDIVIDUALITY IN THE SENSE OF THE TRADITION OF THE SUFIS. THIS IS THE APPROACH TO TAWHID (SKT. ADVAITA).

A Word from the Shattari Sufis

O soul, you are an ocean of treasures... everything is You, there is no other. Whoever loses his self can find himself... O light of the triple world, what place is there where you are not? Look hard, you are everywhere, at play in all that comes to be.
Now listen, here’s some practical advice: sit in meditation and focus on the Absolute form. Seize the upward breath in your body, blow at the fire within your heart. When the flame rocks, it showers sparks... Then sound will vibrate through your body, while you can barely hold yourself in! That is the light of your inner heaven, live in that mystic sound! Among millions of beings, a solitary man enjoys this heaven. He dwells like fragrance in the circle of emptiness, in the abode of bliss.
Abandon consciousness, wisdom and knowledge, focus on meditation not on your body. When you reach the state of union, there you will find your own true self in the place of the Absolute, the Pure, the Void, will be your self without any selfhood. Beyond all knowledge, unknowing rules... There, in the mystical, self-born union... your own true self will be revealed. Stay in absorption in the deep cave, motionless as if in sleep, in the union where there is no you, no other, and no action.
The night of separation passes like an age, in which the knower awakens to love... When the fire of love is kindled in the heart, it consumes everything except the beloved.

The Ribhu Gita (Ch.26): Sri Ramana's Summation

The concept I-am-the-body is of the mind, and is illusive bondage to identification with birth and death. It is the source of all groundless fears. If there is no trace of it all will be found to be the Reality of the Supreme Absolute. The concept I-am-the-body gives rise to the concepts of existence and non-existence. If there is no trace of it everything is found to be the Reality of the Supreme Absolute. The separate ego is a concept. Consciousness, mind, God, the world, desires, action, sorrow and all other notions are all concepts. Abiding without concepts is the undifferentiated state. It is inherence in the Supreme Absolute. It is wisdom and liberation. It is the natural and true state. It is the Reality of the Supreme Absolute. If there is no concept at all everything is found to be the Reality of the Supreme Absolute. The body and the various functions of manifest existence are only concepts. Hearing, reasoning and contemplating are concepts. Inquiry into the ultimate nature of one’s existence is a concept. All other things are also concepts. Concepts give rise to the world, separate beings and God. There is nothing whatsoever except concepts; and everything is in truth the Reality of the Supreme Absolute. Consciousness is unreal; the mind is unreal. It is like a magic show. It is like the son of a barren woman. It is absolutely non-existent. Since there is no consciousness, no mind there are no concepts, no world, no separate beings. All concepts are truly the Reality of the Supreme Absolute.
